I’m working on my pumpkin beer stash right now- went to Total Wine and picked 12 different seasonal brews to try. Some are controversial (Blue Moon), pricey (Terrapin), and downright bizarre (Woodchuck).
I wish I were a bit more excited, but the truth is that I already had the best pumpkin ale ever: Wasatch Seasonal Pumpkin Ale. I picked up a bottle last September on the way back from California. And sadly there was only one. Just the right amount of spice, the pumpkin tastes like pumpkin and not canned pie filling, and no cloying sweetness. My version of perfect but anathema to someone who likes Southern Tier’s Pumpking. And it’s an easy drinking 4% ABV.
