Design: Mission is another brewery that knows itself, it just flies a little under the radar. The blurb flashing by on the site (which is a thousand percent improved over last summer when it was just a landing page) tells me that the brewery itself is “[o]riginally located less than a mile from the very hill where Friar Junipero Serra and his scurvy-ridden crew drove their stake into the ground, Mission Brewery was born in those heady first days of the 20th century" and the graphics folks drew heavily on that with their designs. The mission cross is great, as is the font, but the two lil’ ships are just clutter. If the layout of "Brewery" matched "Mission" you’d be done- simple, easy, done.
Still, can’t argue with the mission- it’s a system that basically settled the state, starting with San Diego de Alcala and stretching up to San Francisco Solano. Curious to see if they can mine that for future promotions, events, outposts*, etc.
*Can you imagine a string of lil’ microbreweries all the way up the coast? AWESOME. And totally improbable. BUT STILL AWESOME. Each would have a different signature brew named after the local mission. Maybe there would be a restaurant or two. Definitely a hotel. People would come from miles away to follow the Mission Trail o’ Brews!
What? A girl can dream.
